Washington, D.C. (JFK ASSASSINATION) An Associated Press report recently published in the Knoxville News-Sentinel says...
"Newly released government documents regarding President John F. Kennedy's assassination say allegations that Lee Harvey Oswald was connected to the CIA were 'totally unfounded.'"
This report cited a 1975 CIA memo stating that, in addition to the Central Intelligence Agency, there was "no indication that any other U.S. agency used Oswald as a source or for recruitment."

"Within hours of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the CIA started to distance itself from any connection to...Lee Harvey Oswald, recently released secret records show."
So if the CIA had no connection to Oswald, why would the agency feel compelled to "distance itself" from him?
USA TODAY reports that records show that the CIA's counterintelligence chief, James Angleton*, had been monitoring Oswald's movements, politics and foreign contacts for four years before the assassination."
*James Jesus Angleton (1917-1987) was born in Boise, Idaho & graduated from Yale University. He joined the US Army in 1943 & was recruited into the Office of Strategic Services (OSS). JJA joined the newly created Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in 1947 & would serve until 1974.
JJA's counterintelligence office was considered one of the most secret of the CIA. He was said to have an "abiding suspicion" of the Soviet Union.
