"SKILLED TO HIT JFK 2X, BUT MISS EVERYTHING ON 3RD?"

JFK REVISITED:  NOVEMBER 22 2021

It has been two years since we have posted to this assassination blog, but have continued to post daily on JFK+50.  On this 58th anniversary of JFK's tragic death, we will revisit the shooting sequence.

Robert Morrow sent an email summarizing the Playboy interview with Mark Lane published in 1966.  The interview includes a shooting sequence scenario described by Mr. Lane that, based on evidence uncovered over 58 years, seems plausible.

Here is a summary of Mark Lane's take on the shooting sequence...

Shot #1

JFK is hit in the upper back (shot from behind) bullet enters 5+ inches below the collar line. (holes in JFK's shirt & coat plus eyewitness accounts).

It is a non-fatal wound that penetrates less than 1 inch (autopsy).  JFK cries out, "My God, I'm hit!" (SS Agent Kellerman)

Shot #2

JFK is hit in the throat (shot from front).

An entrance wound as first described by Parkland doctors during emergency care. (small, round hole)

Tracheotomy was done over/through this wound at Parkland.  Autopsy doctors at Bethesda did NOT see it as a bullet wound.

Shot #3

Gov. Connally is hit in the right upper back (shot from behind). Bullet collapses lung & hits rib before exiting chest, breaking wrist bone & landing in thigh. (Parkland surgery)

Gov C hears one of the shots, but does not hear the shot that hits him. He also hears the one hitting JFK in the head. (Gov's testimony)

Shot #4

This shot misses the motorcade completely.  The bullet hits a curbstone causing debris to strike the face of a bystander. (James Tague)

This is the shot that requires the Warren Commission to link all non-fatal JFK & JBC wounds to one bullet.

Shot #5

JFK is hit in the head (shot from front). (eyewitness reports)

The bullet causes the head to explode blasting out brain matter from the right rear of JFK's head. (Eyewitness reports/Zapruder film)

The Warren Commission could not accept this scenario, later outlined by Mr. Lane, because it would have had to admit there were two shooters firing from two different locations.  That would make it a conspiracy.  To the WC, that was unacceptable.

The WC, using the FBI report**, concluded 3 shots were fired. (This matched up with 3 spent bullet casings found in the TSBD).  Since one  missed & one hit JFK in the head, that left only one bullet to cause all non-fatal wounds to JFK & JBC.  Thus, the Single-Bullet (aka Magic Bullet) theory was born.

More food-for-thought comes from one of the commissioners who did not totally agree with the Warren Report.   In an interview shown on Oliver Stone's recent Showtime documentary, Senator Richard Russell (D-Georgia) said that he could not buy the argument that a shooter could be so skilled as to hit his target two out of three times, but on the third try miss the car, the street...everything.

*Mark Lane (1927-2016) was born in NYC & educated at Brooklyn College & School of Law, Long Island University.  ML was a lawyer, NY State legislator, civil rights activist & Vietnam War crimes investigator.  He authored 'Rush to Judgment,' & 'Plausible Denial.'

**The FBI Report stated that the 1st shot hit JFK, the 2nd shot hit JBC & the 3rd shot hit JFK.  This posed a problem for the WC because the rifle found on the TSBD 6th floor linked to LHO was a manual bolt action rifle requiring more time to recycle for a 2nd or 3rd shot than the two men were hit. (Zapruder film).

OSWALD'S LEGAL RIGHTS IV

August 21, 2012

WHITEWASH-the report on the Warren Report by Harold Weisberg, Chapter 7: Oswald's Legal Rights IV

Knoxville, Tennessee (JFKASSASSINATION) Today JFKASSASSINATION  resumes our report on Chapter 7 of Harold Weisberg's book "Whitewash--the report on the Warren Report", published in 1965.

The title of Chapter 7 is OSWALD'S LEGAL RIGHTS.

Harold Weisberg next addresses "Oswald's Representation Before the (Warren) Commission."

Weisberg introduces us to MARK LANE*, a lawyer hired by Marguerite Oswald "to represent the interests of her son."

*Mark Lane, born in 1927, is a lawyer best known for his defense of Lee Harvey Oswald in his book RUSH TO JUDGMENT critical of the conclusions of the Warren Commission in 1964.

Lane had been a founder of the Reform Democratic Movement in NY & served as JFK's campaign manager in New York City in 1960.

Although Lane testified before the Commission on March 4, 1964, his request to represent the late accused assassin was denied.

Next, Mr. Weisberg asks "Were the Searches Legal?"

In reference to the search by Dallas Police of Lee Harvey Oswald's room on North Beckley Street, Weisberg admits they had a legal SEARCH WARRANT, but says what was unusual is that it was signed by a judge who participated in the search itself.

And as far the search of the home of RUTH PAINE**, where Oswald's wife Marina was staying, Weisberg argues "Nobody had a search warrant."

He also claimed that because the Paine residence was located in Irving, the Dallas Police had no jurisdiction there.

**Ruth Hyde Paine, born in 1932 & a Quaker with an interest in the Russian language, was living in Irving, (a suburb of Fort Worth) Texas in 1963.

Ms. Paine made friends with Marina Oswald who was living with her at the time of the JFK assassination.

It was in Ms. Paine's garage that the Warren Commission declared Oswald had stored the rifle used to kill the President.

Weisberg concludes this chapter with these words:

"Unlike the (Warren) Report, I do not believe Oswald enjoyed his civil or legal rights, either as a matter of law or as a practical consideration."

It is not (Oswald) alone who suffers from the denial of....basic....rights.  We all lose something."
