JFK's BODY ARRIVES AT ANDREWS AFB

JFK's BODY ARRIVES AT ANDREWS AFB

On the flight back to Washington, Dr. Burkley tells Mrs. Kennedy that an autopsy will be required.  It will have to be military for "security reasons".

She has a choice between The National Naval Medical Center located in Bethesda, Maryland or Walter Reed Army Hospital.

Dr. Burkley reminds Jackie that Jack served in the navy.  She says: "Of course, Bethesda."

Air Force One lands at 6:05 p.m. (EST) at Andrews Air Force Base.

A ramp is pushed up to the front door & Robert Kennedy races up the steps.  He enters, hurries through the cabin & finds Jackie.

The rear door opens as a lift on the back of a truck is raised into place.  The casket is lifted on followed by Jacqueline,  Robert Kennedy, Dave Powers & others.

The lift can not be lowered beyond a height of 5 feet from the ground.  After the casket is taken off & placed in the back of a Navy ambulance, Mrs. Kennedy is helped down.
