WE'RE IN NUT COUNTRY NOW

WE'RE IN NUT COUNTRY NOW

On the motorcade route into Dallas, JFK had his driver stop for a family that held up a sign which read: "Mr. President, Stop & Shake Our Hands!"

As the motorcade turns onto Main Street, the Kennedys are greeted by thousands of cheering Texans.

The motorcade is heading for the Trade Mart where the Presidential party will attend a luncheon & the President will make a speech.

JFK had been advised to avoid Dallas because of ‘right wing’ extremists.

A lady had hit UN Ambassador Adlai Stevenson in the head with a sign when he was in the city just two weeks earlier.

Handouts & posters with JFK's photo front & side views & the words "WANTED FOR TREASON" had been circulated throughout the city.

These handouts criticized JFK's policies ranging from Cuba to Civil Rights.

When JFK saw this, he said:

"We're in nut country now!"
