MR. PRESIDENT, WHAT HAVE THEY DONE?

"MR. PRESIDENT, WHAT HAVE THEY DONE?"

After the last shot, the motorcade passes through the "Triple Underpass" to get on the expressway.

The destination is Parkland Memorial Hospital.

To alert the agents in the follow up car on the condition of JFK, Clint Hill gives a "thumbs down" sign.

Agent Hill is perched atop the rear seat covering Mrs. Kennedy & JFK as the car reaches high speed on the freeway.

The Presidential car pulls into Parkland Emergency at 12:36 p.m.

Dave Powers rushes up to the car, sees JFK & says:

"Mr. President, what have they done to you?"

The following is from The Kennedy Detail by Gerald Blaine (2010):

"Mrs. Kennedy, dazed and in shock, huddled over her husband, who was lying faceup in her lap, with his eyes open.  A chunk of his...skull was on the seat next to him. Clint could tell she was in shock....(and) knew...she was concerned with maintaining some semblance of dignity for her husband.  He removed his suit coat and placed it over the president's head and upper chest to shield onlookers from the gory sight."

The President then was lifted out, placed on a stretcher, & wheeled into the hospital.
